Meet Olivia, one of the first 40 patients to graduate from the immunotherapy programme at Cambridge Peanut Allergy Clinic

Olivia has completed a 4-month journey through a process called oral immunotherapy. She started taking very small doses of characterised peanut proteins, and increased them over time to the equivalent of two peanuts per day. Having completed this phase of therapy, she shared her experience with us on her graduation day.

"This has been such a confidence boost for me."

Liv, from Barry in Wales, is thrilled by the freedom she feels, saying, “this has been such a confidence boost for me.” Her mother, Sam, has described the journey as “absolutely life-changing! The thought that every day your child risks anaphylaxis from foods is terrifying. I had tears in my eyes and told everyone we met just how fantastic the changes to her life were. I really didn't think we were strong enough for immunotherapy, given our concerns about reactions, travelling and cost, but with the help of other parents and a brilliant team, we've come a long way already. Thank you for developing immunotherapy for families like us.”
